Tottenham Hotspur make enquiry to sign Real Madrid star on loan

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry to sign Real Madrid star Franco Mastantuono on loan, as their summer rebuild continues.

Having already secured the signings of Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi, Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly turned their attention to their attacking positions.

With key injuries to their better attackers - and those behind them performing extremely poorly - it is no surprise that Spurs ultimately ended up in a Premier League relegation battle last season - finishing 17th for a second successive campaign.

Tottenham's business so far this summer reflects a club adamant that they won't allow history to repeat itself for a third time, with their squad overhaul showing no signs of slowing down.

The latest name to be linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer is Real Madrid's young star Franco Mastantuono, who only joined Los Blancos last summer for €45m.

According to Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs to have contacted Real Madrid regarding the potential parameters of a loan deal for the Argentine.

According to the report, Spurs are joined in the race for the 18 year-old by Villarreal, FC Porto, Sporting, Benfica, Inter Milan, Juventus, River Plate and Stade Rennais.

The report mentions that Real Madrid and new manager Jose Mourinho have deemed Mastantuono surplus to requirements for next season, with Los Blancos already sanctioning a loan move for the 2026/27 season.

Villareal are currently said to be in the drivers seat to secure the deal, though with Spurs entering the race for his signature, that could be about to change.

Much was hoped for of Mastantuono when he joined Real Madrid from River Plate for such a high transfer fee, but last season he failed to live up to expectations.

The Argentine managed just three goals and one assist in his 35 appearances across all competitions during his maiden campaign in Madrid, leading to his potential temporary exit this summer.
