The Madrid Open, typically played in late April each year on clay courts, is recognised as an ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event and is therefore a staple part of the tennis calendar for the majority of the sport's elite stars.
We take a look at all of the players to have won the Madrid Open on both the ATP and WTA Tours.
Since the foundation of the Madrid Open in 2002, clay court king Rafael Nadal has won the most ATP titles at the Madrid Open - winning the tournament five times.
The other members of the 'Big Three', Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both have three Madrid Open titles to their name.
The only other two male players to have won the Madrid Open on more than one occasion are Andy Murray and Alexander Zverev who have both won the competition twice.
Czechia's Petra Kvitova and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka hold the record for most women's singles titles at the Madrid Open, Kvitova winning the competition three times in 2011, 2015 and 2018, and Sabalenka's victories coming in 2021, 2023 and 2025.
There are two other players to have won the tournament on more than one occasion - Serena Williams and Simona Halep have two each.
