A place in the quarter-finals of the US Open is at stake on Sunday evening, when Daniil Medvedev takes on home hope Frances Tiafoe.
Medvedev, winner of this Grand Slam in 2021, is yet to drop a set in his first three matches, but this clash against Tiafoe will arguably be his toughest of the tournament to date.
Tiafoe, backed by a partisan home crowd, squeezed through his first-round match in five sets before winning his next two assignments in straight sets.
Best Bet - Frances Tiafoe to win @ 13/10
Alternative Bet - Frances Tiafoe to make the most double faults @ 3/1
Bet Builder - Frances Tiafoe 5+ Aces, Under 0.5 tie breaks & Over 9.5 games in the first set @ 8/1
Best Bet: Frances Tiafoe to win @ 13/10
Medvedev has been a bogey opponent for Tiafoe over the years, with the 2020 US Open champion leading the head-to-head 7-1, but the American looks capable of adding a second win to his column.
The 28-year-old warmed up for the final major of the season with a runner-up finish at the Cincinnati Open - finding only Arthur Fils too good on that occasion - and he has grown into his home slam as the tournament has progressed.
Tiafoe overcame compatriot Martin Damm Jr. in a five-set thriller in round one, an opponent Medvedev lost to at the Winston-Salem Open in August.
Two straight-set wins have followed for the US star, who has seen off Rei Sakamoto and Valentin Vacherot with relative ease, and his performance levels have increased with each outing.
Medvedev's form coming into the US Open was scratchy at best and he was perhaps expected to be tested more than he has, with three straight-set wins recorded.
However, the 30-year-old has been handed an easy route to this stage, facing a qualifier in round one and then a wildcard at the second stage.
Breezing through the opening rounds can sometimes work against a player, as they have not been forced to dig deep and produce their best tennis, but Tiafoe has already been given a scare and this could bode well for his chances.
With the home crowd behind him and Medvedev never far away from a meltdown on the court, Tiafoe can secure his place in the quarter-finals.
Alternative Bet: Frances Tiafoe to make the most double faults @ 3/1
While Tiafoe is expected to pick up the win, he will be put under intense pressure on his serve and this could result in a few double faults from him.
The American recorded two in round one, four in the second round and then six in his most recent win over Vacherot.
As for Medvedev, he made three in both his first and second-round wins before racking up six in his victory over Arthur Rinderknech.
Medvedev is the better, more consistent server of the two and there looks to be a good chance that Tiafoe will make the most double faults.
Frances Tiafoe 5+ Aces
Under 0.5 tie breaks
Over 9.5 games in the first set
Pays 8/1
Although Tiafoe may rack up the double faults, he can also make plenty of aces in this contest and backing him to serve at least five is the starting point of this bet builder.
The American has made six, seven and 12 aces in his first three matches.
There have been no tie breaks in Medvedev's first three matches and just one in Tiafoe's three contests, so the chances one will be required in this game look unlikely.
With the first set of both Medvedev and Tiafoe's first and third-round matches producing exactly 10 games, these two look capable of producing at least that same number in their opening set.
