New Scotland boss Sebastien Pocognoli earned his first UEFA Nations League point as the Tartan Army held Slovenia to a goalless draw in the Belgian's first game in charge.
In what was a contrast of two halves, Scotland struggled to find any fluidity to their game as they acclimatised themselves to the new wing-back system being implemented by Pocognoli.
The visitors were fortuitous not to have fallen behind as early as the seventh minute when Andraz Sporar foudn the back of the net courtesy of a thumping finish from 15-yards, only for the linesman's flag to come to their rescue.
The same player spurned a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock shortly after when he somehow failed to make adequate contact with a teasing ball across goal.
But while Scotland could count themselves lucky not to have been behind at the break, despite debutant Robbie Ure hitting the post in the dying embers of the half, they looked a different beast following the restart.
Pocognoli's men looked full of drive, swagger and determination and in truth should have sealed maximum spoils.
Hull City talisman Oli McBurnie -- clearly enjoying himself on his return to international duty -- should have done better when he danced through on goal, but failed to beat Jan Oblak from 10-yards.
Billy Gilmour then went close with a strike that was handled well but the Atletico Madrid stalwart, before McBurnie was once more denied from point-blank range as the Scots upped the ante during a pulsating finale.
Kieron Bowie was afforded the final opportunity to claim a memorable victory, but he skewed wide of the post after being expertly picked out by the impressive Gilmour.
