Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly set to sign Hull City's highly rated striker Mason Burstow on loan for the 2026/27 season.
Burstow, 22, spent the entirety of last season on loan in League One with Bolton Wanderers, who secured promotion to the Championship, scoring 12 goals and registering five assists in 45 league matches.
A former Sunderland and Charlton Athletic loanee, Burstow joined Hull from Chelsea in 2024 for a reported £2m, having joined the Premier League side from the Addicks two years prior.
He has so far featured 32 times for the Tigers' first team, scoring twice, but has been deemed surplus to requirements this season, as Hull prepare to play Premier League football.
As a result, a number of clubs have reportedly been circling to secure his signature, but Barry Cooper via Hull Live has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday are set to win the race.
Cooper mentions that Burstow is currently in Slovenia with the Hull City squad for their pre season training, but a season-long loan move could progress rapidly within the next 24 hours.
He adds that the 22 year-old is unlikely to travel to Istanbul with the rest of the Hull squad as they move on to the next stage of their preparations for life back in the top flight, but will instead head back to England to complete his move to the Owls.
Should the move get over the line, Burstow would become Wednesday's ninth signing of the Summer so far, as they look to rebuild their squad for League One.
Burstow would join Louie Barry, Harry Gray and Jordi Liongola as attacking reinforcements, forming what looks like a potent Owls attack ahead of the new season.
The 22 year-old is set to be the latest in a long line of exits - permanent and temporary - for the Tigers, as they overhaul their squad to get it ready for what promises to be a challenging campaign back in the top flight.
