The PGA Tour returns to action with the RBC Heritage from Harbour Town.
A stark contrast to the test posed by Augusta National last week, players must navigate the short, winding, tree-lined Harbour Town, where demands are placed on accuracy over distance.
Take a look at the key first round leader stats ahead of the 2026 RBC Heritage.
First round leader last five tournaments:
2025 - Justin Thomas - 61
2024 - JT Poston - 63
2023 - Aaron Rai - 63
2022 - Cameron Young - 62
2021 - Cameron Smith - 62
The RBC Heritage was elevated to a Signature Event for the 2023 season, though low scoring has always been on the cards at Harbour Town, particularly when the wind stays down.
Camerons Young and Smith held the first round lead in 2021 and 2022 with nine-under-par rounds of 63, a shot better than JT Poston and Aaron Rai in the following years, with Justin Thomas's sparkling 61 enough for the first round lead en route to victory last time.
Shane Lowry held the first round lead in 2019 with a 65, and has found himself in the top five after round one three times. First in 2017 on his debut and then again in 2022 en route to a T3 finish, and despite more disappointing recent results, it comes as no big surprise to see the creative Irishman flourishing at a course that demands inventive shot shaping.
Billy Horschel and Brian Harman -- another Open winner -- are the other two players in the field to have been in the top five after round one of the RBC Heritage.
Lowry, Lucas Glover, Cameron Young, JT Poston, Justin Thomas and Bud Cauley are the six players in the field to have held the first round lead at Harbour Town.
Although he's yet to hold the first round this season, Schauffele has been no worse than 10th in his last five events.
Austin Smotherman is the only player in the field to have held the first round lead on more than one occasion this season (Cognizant Classic, Players Championship).
