Rangers have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Venezuelan forward Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers that will make him one of the most expensive players in the club's history.
Derek McInnes has been on the hunt for additional attacking options this summer after wantaway forward Youssef Chermiti suffered an ACL injury that will rule him out for several months.
While Rangers have been linked with a number of potential targets, it appears that they have concentrated their attention on Kelsy, with a deal being struck in recent days.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Scottish Premiership side will pay $13 million (£9.5m) to sign the striker.
The move will also reportedly include both a sell-on percentage for the MLS side and performance-related add-ons.
Both parties have agreed to terms, with an official announcement of the transfer expected imminently.
Kelsy is set to become the second-most expensive arrival in Rangers' history, with only Tore Andre Flo's £12million move from Chelsea more than 25 years ago surpassing his fee.
Since joining Portland from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2025 Kelsy has established himself as one of the most exciting young strikers in Major League Soccer.
In the 2026 season he has produced nine goals and two assists from 14 starts.
His form stateside led to him make his first appearance for Venezuela last year, and he has since notched a total of six senior caps.
Should the deal be completed as expected Kelsy will likely be available to feature when the club travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen as they continue their search for a first league win of the new campaign.
