Rangers eye move for Scottish international defender

Rangers are aiming to revamp their defensive options this summer and the Glasgow giants are reportedly eyeing a move for a Scottish international defender as part of that process.

Danny Rohl's side finished third in the Scottish Premiership last season, behind rivals Celtic and surprise package Hearts, and defensive reinforcements are on the agenda at Ibrox in the upcoming transfer window.

One position that is sure to be a focus for Rangers chiefs is at right-back, where departing captain James Tavernier will leave a significant hole to fill.

A number of full-back options have been touted in the media in recent weeks, including Swedish defender Hampus Skoglund, but it appears another name is on the shortlist at Ibrox this summer, and it is one that will be familiar to Gers fans.

Rangers eye move for Everton's Nathan Patterson

Scotland and Everton defender Nathan Patterson is reportedly set for an exit from the Toffees this summer, and TEAMtalk report that Rangers is a possible destination for the 24-year-old.

Patterson came through the youth system at Ibrox and a return to familiar surroundings could appeal for the Glasgow native.

A number of different injuries have derailed Patterson's progress during his time in England, and the 24-year-old has only managed 56 Premier League appearances for the Toffees across four injury-plagued seasons on Merseyside.

Patterson cost Everton a hefty £12m fee back in 2022 but now it appears David Moyes is open to sanctioning an exit for the Scottish international.

The Scot's signed a five-and-a-half-year deal when he signed in January 2022, meaning his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027. If Everton are looking to earn a fee for Patterson, then a move this summer makes sense for both parties.
