Who will finish sixth in the Premier League?

A whole host of Premier League clubs will be supporting Aston Villa in the UEFA Europa League final whilst hoping Unai Emery's men finish no higher than fifth with the potential riches on offer to whoever finishes sixth.

Courtesy of UEFA's European Performance Spots which rewards leagues for the success of their clubs on the continental stage, the Premier League has been granted an additional spot in next year's UEFA Champions League for a second successive campaign.

It means the top five teams in the Premier League will all be involved in Europe's elite club competition next season, but with Villa's involvement in the Europa League final, there is a fantastic opportunity for the team that finishes sixth in England's top-flight to secure their passage to the UEFA Champions League.

That will only happen if Villa are triumphant against Freiburg in Istanbul later in the month AND they fail to finish in the top four.

Fascinatingly, Villa's Europa League final is scheduled four days before the Premier League's concluding fixtures, which means we could be set for a thrilling finale as several teams battle to finish sixth and achieve UEFA Champions League qualification.

Who will finish 6th in the Premier League?

Bournemouth

Bournemouth are currently in pole position to possibly secure UEFA Champions League football as they are perched sixth on 55 points, four points ahead of Brentford and two points ahead of Brighton.

The Cherries have assembled a sensational 16-game unbeaten run in the Premier League to propel them to the top of the mid-table teams and Andoni Iraola's side have a pivotal fixture against Manchester City next Tuesday.

They subsequently conclude their campaign away against a Nottingham Forest that may have already achieved safety by that stage.

Brentford

Brentford have featured in the top half of the Premier League since the end of December and despite a six-game winless run which featured five consecutive draws, the Bees returned to winning ways with an emphatic victory over West Ham.

Keith Andrews' side have defied expectations this season but they face a tough assignment, hosting Crystal Palace, who will have one eye on their UEFA Conference League final.

Brentford wrap up their campaign at Anfield against Liverpool, which could present an intriguing scenario as victory for either side could jeopardise the Bees' UEFA Champions League hopes as the Reds still need to finish above Aston Villa.

Brighton

Brighton have the best run-in of the teams involved in the battle for sixth and that's reflected in the odds.

Under Fabian Hurzeler, the Seagulls have consistently been the architects of their own downfall but they will be relishing their remaining fixtures as they take on a Leeds United outfit who could well be on the beach and conclude with the visit of Manchester United, who may also take their foot off the gas with UEFA Champions League football secured.

Chelsea

Chelsea's decline has been startling and their horror show against Nottingham Forest suggested Calum McFarlane is going to find it arduous to arrest the slide.

The Blues have now failed to win any of their last eight Premier League matches and have an FA Cup final against Manchester City to build themselves up for next weekend.

After their Wembley showdown they encounter a resurgent Tottenham who are fighting to avoid the drop before meeting Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Everton

Everton are level on points with Chelsea and trail Bournemouth by six points.

The Toffees were left to agonise over Jeremy Doku's last-gasp equaliser for Manchester City at the Hill Dickinson Stadium which denied David Moyes' side a precious victory in the race to secure European football, while they also dropped points from winning positions against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League match.

However, their remaining fixtures are generous compared to others. They welcome Sunderland and then heading to a sumptuous final day clash against Tottenham.
