Plymouth are closing in on securing a replacement for Lorent Tolaj with reports suggesting that they have agreed a fee for a Mansfield Town forward.
According to Plymouth Live reporter Chris Errington, the Pilgrims have settled on a £400,000 fee, plus add-ons to bring Will Evans into the fold at Home Park.
The 29-year-old Welshman, who netted 10 goals in all competitions last season, is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of his proposed move to the West Coast outfit.
Plymouth have been working on bringing a striker to the club since the departure of prolific front man Tolaj. The 24-year-old contributed 18 goals and eight assists in 31 League One starts last term but joined Bristol City for £4m last month.
Should the move for Evans go through, then he will join up with Owen Oseni and Bim Pepple as manager Tom Cleverley's options at the top of the pitch.
Pepple enjoyed an outstanding second half of the campaign in 2025/26, scoring 15 times after the turn of the year to send Plymouth firing up the table to eighth.
A poor opening few months at Home Park ultimately cost Cleverley's side a place in the playoffs but encouraging results at the back end of the season will fuel hopes of earning promotion back to the Championship.
Despite missing out on the playoffs, Plymouth had the second-best away form in the division, something that will be absolutely crucial if they are to justify odds of 11/8 to finish inside the top six.
Evans is set to become the seventh arrival at Home Park this summer, with ex-Stevenage midfielder Harvey White and experienced Burton Albion defender Alex Hartridge both making the move south earlier in the summer.
