Next Coventry Manager Contenders: Lampard amongst Palace favourites

We take a look at the contenders to be the next manager of Coventry City as Frank Lampard shortens for the position at Crystal Palace.

After seeing their team clinch promotion from the Championship, Coventry fans are looking forward to the return of Premier League football for the first time in 25 years.

However, the situation around manager Frank Lampard will be concerning supporters as he continues to be linked with a move to Crystal Palace.

Lampard has shortened from 16/1 to 7/2 to be the next Palace manager as the club looks to secure a replacement for Oliver Glasner.

Here are our top five contenders to be the next Coventry manager in the event that Lampard moves on this summer.

Next Coventry Manager Contenders

Thomas Frank

After being dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur in February after just eight months at the helm, Thomas Frank will be out to prove a few people wrong in his next role.

Despite his disastrous time in North London, Frank remains an attractive proposition for a number of Premier League owners following his seven-year spell as Brentford manager.

Moving one from Frank to another could make sense given the Premier League experience that the Danish manager would provide.

Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche has a wealth of experience in the top-flight and an opportunity to start afresh without arriving at a club in chaos could appeal.

He has experience of stabilising the likes of Burnley and Everton over the years but he would have a blank canvas at Coventry.

If Coventry do become embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle, Dyche is exactly the sort of manager they would need.

Kjetil Knutsen

The Norwegian manager has done an excellent job during his eight-year tenure as Bodo/Glimt manager.

In addition to winning four domestic league titles, Knutsen led Bodo/Glimt to the last four of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League.

He also guided the club into the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League last season and it feels like a matter of time before he secures a move to a big league.

Lee Carsley

England Under 21s manager Lee Carsley has been linked with a move to various teams in recent months.

With Thomas Tuchel signing a new contract as England manager until the end of Euro 2028, Carsley may be tempted to make the move into club management.

As a multiple European Under 21 Championship winner with England, Carsley has forged a strong reputation and he also represented Coventry during his playing career.

Ralph Hasenhuttl

Former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl spent four years on the South Coast before being dismissed in November 2022.

Hasenhüttl has been out of work since being sacked by Wolfsburg in May 2025 and is looking to return to the dugout.

An opportunity to go straight back into the Premier League would surely be too good to turn down.
