Millwall set to rival Preston & Watford for Nottingham Forest defender

Millwall are reportedly set to rival Preston North End and Watford for Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott.

Abbott, 20, has featured 13 times for Forest's first team, including seven UEFA Europa League matches in 2025/26, as the Tricky Trees reached the semi finals of the competition.

An England youth international, Abbott has featured all across the back four during his career to this point and is extremely highly rated at the City Ground.

A product of the Garibaldi's youth academy, the 20-year-old would likely have found game time hard to come by this campaign, as a result of Forest's new signing Ousmane Diomande, leading to loan interest from various Championship clubs.

According to EFL transfer guru Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Millwall are the latest side in the second tier to register an interest in the Forest man, joining Watford and Preston in the race for his signature.

All talks around a potential move for the 20-year-old centre around a loan move, with Forest said to be keen to keep hold of their prodigy for the long term.

The interest from both Watford and Preston has been widely reported prior, though Millwall would likely be a more attractive proposition for Abbott, given their league finish last campaign.

Millwall have had an exceptional start to the new campaign, sitting at the top of the Championship table with two wins from two, alongside earning their place in the third round of the EFL Cup.
