Founded in 1880, Preston North End Football Club are one of the founding members of the Football League, famously winning the inaugural league title in 1888–89 without losing a single game, alongside winning the FA Cup in that same season. This achievement meant they were dubbed "The Invincibles".
Playing their home matches at Deepdale, one of the oldest continuously used football grounds in the world, Preston have struggled to replicate their early successes in the modern era, failing to reach the top flight since their relegation in the 1960/61 season.
PNE have seen a number of top players don their white kits, including Tom Finney and Bill Shankly, whilst they also had the iconic David Beckham on loan in 1995.
