Christopher Nkunku's fired home a late penalty as the Milan Derby ended 1-1 in Australia.
The pre-season meeting between the two Italian giants took place in Perth's Optus Stadium.
The 65,000-capacity venue hosted the first Ashes Test between Australia and England last winter but changed tack to display one of football's most enduring rivalries on Wednesday afternoon.
Inter are in a better place than Milan at the moment after storming to the Serie A title last campaign, but, although Cristian Chivu's men dominated proceedings, they failed to make their superiority count.
Federico Dimarco ghosted in at the back post give Inter the lead, however, they lacked the cutting edge to win the game before Carlos Augusto conceded a sloppy foul in the box to hand Milan the opportunity to equalise from 12 yards.
Nkunku duly obliged, dispatching his spot-kick beyond the reach of Ivan Provedel with the referee's final whistle going just a few minutes after.
Milan and Inter will renew their rivalry on 31st October at the famous San Siro.
