Middlesbrough are reportedly set to beat out competition from across Europe to sign US youth international Rokas Pukstas.
Pukstas has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Hajduk Split this summer and has reportedly attracted attention from a number of top-flight clubs on the continent.
Hull City were were repeatedly linked with the 22-year-old midfielder during the early weeks of the window, with Tigers boss Sergej Jakirovic said to be a keen admirer.
However, a move ultimately did not materialise and it appears that Boro have swooped in to secure his signature.
According to a report from Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph, Middlesbrough have agreed a deal worth €5million (£4.2m) for Pukstas - with an official announcement expected imminently.
A tireless box-to-box midfielder that already has more than a century of top flight appearances in Croatia under his belt, Pukstas will compete for places with the likes of Sebastian Berhalter and Aidan Morris in the middle of the pitch.
Should the signing of Pukstas be completed in the coming days the US youth international will become the 10th senior signing to make his way to the Riverside this summer.
