Michail Antonio is currently training with Watford as he searches for a new club following his departure from Qatari side Al-Sailiya.
West Ham United's record Premier League goalscorer has endured a tumultuous 20 months since sustaining a broken leg in a horrific car crash in December 2024.
It was an injury which threatened to curtail his career and after being released by the Hammers in June 2025 following a 10-year spell, Antonio returned to the club as part of his rehabilitation.
The Jamaica international played for West Ham's Under-21s on a non-contract basis during the following campaign to build up match fitness and Antonio subsequently had a trial with Leicester City, only for the Foxes to turn down the opportunity to sign him.
Antonio had been close to joining Brentford in the Premier League, only for a torn calf muscle to scupper the deal.
The striker subsequently ventured to Qatar where he joined Al-Sailiya and made four appearances for the club before leaving in April.
Antonio's struggles to get back into English football have been well-documented and the former Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday forward has attempted to find a new club throughout the summer.
It now appears the 36-year-old has been handed a lifeline as he aims to win over Watford boss Alessio Dionisi before the new Championship campaign.
According to the Watford Observer, there's a possibility Antonio could earn a deal with the Hornets if he impresses in training.
Antonio established himself as one of West Ham's modern greats during a memorable decade at the London Stadium.
The club’s record goalscorer in the Premier League with 68 goals in 268 appearances, Antonio was a part of the team that won the UEFA Conference League in 2023 under David Moyes.
Several managers attempted to discard him, including Manuel Pellegrini, while the club's persistent signing of strikers ultimately led them down the exact same path of Antonio leading the line.
If Watford do sign Antonio, he could be in line to face his former club as early as 29th August as the Hornets host the Hammers at Vicarage Road in the Championship.
