Lincoln City's unbeaten run: What is the Imps' longest undefeated streak?

The longest unbeaten run in the Football League currently belongs to Lincoln City after they secured promotion to the Championship with a 2-1 win over Reading on Easter Monday.

In a division that's littered with big-spending heavyweights such as Huddersfield Town, Luton Town and Stockport County, Lincoln's sustainable financial model has enabled them to steadily build and with Michael Skubala at the helm, they've evolved into the force to beat in League One.

The Imps are now 12 points clear of Cardiff City in second, and with just five fixtures of the season remaining, it would require a catastrophic implosion to not see Skubala's men claim the title.

Scoring the most goals in the division and conceding the fewest, those of a red and white persuasion are now celebrating their return to the second tier for the first time since 1961.

Lincoln have embarked on a 24-match undefeated streak to win promotion. Their unbeaten run consists of a phenomenal 19 victories, which includes a league double over title rivals Cardiff, not least the statement 2-0 triumph at the Cardiff City Stadium at the start of March.

In fact, the only teams Lincoln have failed to beat this season are Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers, with the Imps sharing the spoils in all four of their meetings between the two sides this term.

When did Lincoln City last lose a League One fixture?

Lincoln's last defeat in League One was on the 22nd November 2025 as they were beaten 3-2 by Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

The Imps had restored parity through Justin Obikwu and Freddie Draper after Sam Bell's first half double had put the Chairboys in the ascendancy, but Jack Grimmer's 88th minute winner stole all three points for the hosts.

What is Lincoln City's longest league unbeaten run?

Lincoln have surpassed their previous longest unbeaten run in the Football League of 19 matches, which they achieved in the 2018/19 season.

Danny Cowley's side won nine and drew 10 matches as they clinched the League Two title on Easter Sunday, their second promotion in three seasons.

That run eclipsed Lincoln's previous record of 18 matches, which was achieved twice by Colin Murphy's side of 1979/80 and 1980/81.
