Liam Delap has endured a forgettable debut season with Chelsea and reports suggest that he could be set to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Delap was sought after in the 2025/26 summer transfer window after an impressive 2024/25 campaign with Ipswich Town saw him score 12 goals in the top-flight, but he's failed to reach anywhere near the same heights this term.
The English centre forward has found the net on just two occasions this season, despite featuring on 39 occasions in all competitions for Chelsea.
Xabi Alonso will join the club in July and it's said that he will have a huge say on the outlook of the squad, and so if the Basque-born manager doesn't see a future for Delap at Stamford Bridge a summer sale can't be ruled out.
Read on as we take a look at which clubs could be interested in signing the striker in the forthcoming window.
Everton's luck with strikers has been just as unfortunate as Chelsea's in more recent years, and they may be tempted to return to the market for a centre forward after a relatively underwhelming season from 2025/26 summer arrival Thierno Barry.
Barry has scored eight Premier League goals in his debut Toffees campaign, and while this isn't necessarily a disgraceful return, he's started just one of Everton's last 10 top-flight games and, for a €30m signing, that simply doesn't cut it.
Delap was heavily linked to Everton last summer, with many mooting the Englishman as the ideal striker for David Moyes, and the former Ipswich centre forward even went as far as to add his name to a famous players' wall inside No. 37 Goodison Road when the Tractor Boys travelled to Merseyside last season, prompting yet more rumours.
After a nightmare campaign with Chelsea, could the Toffees reignite their interest in Delap?
When signing for the West London-based outfit last summer, Delap probably couldn't have imagine a world in which he was linked with a return to Ipswich just a year on.
It was a decent 2023/24 campaign with Hull City that saw him earn a permanent move to Ipswich, scoring eight goals and registering two assists in 31 second-tier games, but few expected him to have the debut season that he had in the Premier League.
Ipswich dropped back down to the Championship with just 22 points in the 2024/25 season, but Delap managed to find the net on 12 occasions in an impressive campaign that captivated the interest of numerous clubs.
Delap needs playing time if he is to return to the player that he was in the 2024/25 term and, if Alonso doesn't plan to give him minutes at Chelsea, a return to Portman Road could suit all parties.
Newcastle United endured a dismal 2025/26 summer transfer window, missing out on a number of key targets and reluctantly sanctioning the sale of star striker Alexander Isak.
With no sporting director in place, there was a glaring element of desperation with a number of the Magpies' additions, including the signing of Yoane Wissa, who joined the club in the closing seconds of Deadline Day.
The Congolese striker has played just 497 Premier League minutes for Eddie Howe and fellow summer addition Nick Woltemade has already been dropped to the midfield, similarly to how Joelinton was shifted to the engine room after failing to have the desired effect up front.
Delap was reportedly on Newcastle's radar last summer, and they may be tempted to revive their interest in the Chelsea man to bolster their attack.
