Darwin Nunez potential next club

Darwin Nunez and Al-Hilal are set to part ways at the end of the season, according to reports.

The Uruguay international has had a tricky time of it since making the switch to the Saudi Pro League and hasn't featured in a competitive match since 16th February.

Nunez was dropped from Al-Hilal's squad list earlier this year, only leaving him eligible for the AFC Champions League.

Despite having another year left on his contract, reports suggest that both the player and the club have come to an agreement that will see him depart on a permanent deal this summer.

At just 26, Nunez's best years could still be ahead of him and we take a look at a number of sides who could benefit from that next season...

Juventus

It is looking increasingly likely that Dusan Vlahovic will depart Juventus on a free when his contract comes to an end at the conclusion of this season, leaving the Old Lady with a gaping hole in their squad.

With just six Serie A goals to his name this campaign, Canadian forward Jonathan David hasn't exactly captured the imagination of the Allianz Stadium faithful and there is a good chance that Juve will dip into the market for a replacement.

Milan

Similarly to their Italian rivals, the striker scene at Milan is looking fairly bleak.

Consistent injuries suffered by last season's top goalscorer Christian Pulisic have left Milan rather toothless on the front end, even turning to failed West Ham forward Niclas Fullkrug in an attempt to solve their goalscoring woes.

It has already been decided that Fullkrug's loan will not be turned into a more permanent stay, therefore leaving I Rossoneri with limited options at the top of the pitch.

Fenerbahce

The departure of Moroccan centre forward Youssef En-Nesyri in the January transfer window has left Fenerbahce with just one out-and-out number nine.

Sidiki Cherif, signed in Janaury to replace En Nesyri, started well, scoring in three consecutive matches in the immediate time after his move, however, has struggled to keep that form going.

The 19-year-old has been handed a large task for one so young and would benefit from having a more senior striker alongside him to share the minutes with.

Benfica

Benfica sold Darwin Nunez for an staggering €85m back in 2022 and there could be no better place for the 26-year-old to recapture his absolute best.

Nunez scored a brilliant 48 goals in 85 matches during his time with the 38-time champions of Portugal, laying on a further 16 assists to his teammates in that period.

Despite links to Real Madrid, there is also the tantalising prospect of seeing Nunez play under Jose Mourinho, a possibility that would surely provide box office viewing.
