Leicester City are reportedly on the verge of sanctioning the high-profile departure of former England international Harry Winks.
The 30-year-old, who has been capped 10 times at senior level, has been the subject of heavy interest following the Foxes relegation down to League One.
A number of Championship sides and others on the continent have been linked with moves for the midfielder, but it now appears as though Serie A side Cagliari are close to winning the race for his signature.
According to Leicestershire Live, a deal for the former Tottenham Hotspur star to join the Italian side is 'gathering pace' with discussions between all parties now at an 'advanced stage'.
Winks' potential move to Italy would see him return there for the second time in his career after spending the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Sampdoria.
He made 20 appearances during his time at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris after falling out of favour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before sealing a blockbuster £10 million move to Leicester three years ago.
He was instrumental as the Foxes won promotion to the Premier League in 2024, featuring 48 times in all competitions, before injuries hampered his top-flight return the following campaign.
Winks was once more a regular in 2025/26, but endured difficulties with the club's supporters last term, infamously lashing out at fans prior to boarding the team bus following a damaging 1-0 defeat at fellow relegation candidates Portsmouth.
That, together with the club dropping down to the third-tier, was always going to end in a parting of ways, and it now appears that a resolution will be found in just a few days.
It's understood the funds will help Russell Martin press ahead with his own recruitment plans as he seeks a summer rebuild to help instigate an immediate return to the Championship.
