Paris Saint-Germain v Aston Villa: UEFA Super Cup Predicted XIs & Injury News

Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa make the trip to Salburg, Austria for the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night, as both sides look to secure their first piece of silverware of the new season.

The Villans, who qualified for this match via their UEFA Europa League success, have had a summer of overhaul across the board, with a multitude of changes in their playing and coaching staff.

Meanwhile, UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain have had a much more settled summer, with their only major departure so far being that of back up striker Goncalo Ramos.

However, as a result of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, both sides have been without some key members of their squads for their respective pre seasons so far.

This makes predicting the make-up of the two squads particularly difficult, with both sides' respective semi finalists and finalists yet to make a single appearance in a friendly.

As a consequence of FIFA regulations, those players who reached the semi final stage or later were only able to return to training with their club sides on Monday 10th August, just two days prior to this contest, setting up an intruiging affair.

Paris Saint-Germain v Aston Villa Team News and Injury Updates

Both sides will be boosted by the return of their international heroes, with Paris Saint-Germain welcoming back Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Fabian Ruiz, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaire-Emery, Lucas Hernandez and new signing Lucas Digne on Monday morning.

According to reports, the Parisiens have a clean bill of health heading into the UEFA Super Cup, giving Luis Enrique a full squad to select from.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery saw Ezri Konsa, Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins return to the fold, with the Villans' two other semi finalist representatives (Lucas Digne and Morgan Rogers) both having already departed.

The Villans do have a couple of injury issues to add to Emery's headaches for this match though, with new signing Johan Manzambi confirmed to be unavailable due to an injury suffered at the World Cup.

Alejandro Garnacho and John McGinn are also injury worries, with both having gone off injured in the Villans' friendly against BG Pathum United last week, but both players are said to be hopeful of being fit for the trip to Salzburg.
