Leeds United are competing with Brentford in an attempt to secure the signing of FC Köln winger Said El Mala.
El Mala is one of the brightest prospects in world football after enjoying a breakthrough season for FC Koln in the 2025/26 campaign.
The 19-year-old scored 13 goals and registered five assists as FC Koln finished 14th in the Bundesliga table.
He received his first senior call-up from Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann for the qualifiers against Luxembourg and Slovakia in November but he is yet to make his debut and was left out of the World Cup squad.
On the Minute have reported that Leeds have now entered the race to sign the winger after monitoring his progress during last season.
The explosive winger has reportedly been the subject of a reported £40 million bid from Brentford, while interest has also emerged from Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Leeds are looking to move to the front of the queue for a player who would certainly be an upgrade on the wingers who are currently at the club.
Manager Daniel Farke has been outspoken about his desire for Leeds to kick on next summer after securing their Premier League status.
He will hope that his ambition is matched by the club's owners and the signing of El Mala would certainly be a step in the right direction.
However, with a number of Premier League clubs now circling, Leeds might have to move quickly to secure a deal.
