Rangers are set to be without captain Lawrence Shankland for a considerable length of time following the injury he sustained against Motherwell.
The Scottish Premiership fixture was only five minues old when Shankland clutched his hamstring and signalled to the bench that his game was over.
Shankland had started to find his feet at Ibrox following an underwhelming start to his Rangers career.
The former Hearts forward had netted from the penalty spot at Aberdeen the previous weekend, before bagging a brace to inspire a 2-1 win at Falkirk.
His latest injury setback follows a similar hamstring issue that he suffered at Hearts last season and it could be one that keeps him out for a long period.
Manager Derek McInnes will be hoping that Shankland can return as soon as possible, but the likelihood is that he will be absent from the squad for up to three months.
The best case scenario would see Shankland return to action in November, but it could be the following month before he is fit enough.
The injury means that Shankland will miss back-to-back Old Firm clashes with Celtic this month, while his return to Tynecastle on 28th October is also unlikely.
A three-month absence could mean that the away fixture at Hibernian on 5th December is a potential option, while a trip to St Johnstone the following week couldalso be earmarked.
Shankland's absence leaves McInnes with a headache up front, with fellow striker Youssef Chermiti also out for an extended period with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Rangers will have the likes of Ryan Naderi, Bojan Miovski and new signing Kevin Kelsy to call upon in the meantime.
