Lamine Camara potential next club

Lamine Camara is reportedly drawing interest from numerous clubs after an impressive campaign with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

The 22-year-old joined Monaco in the 2024/25 summer transfer window for a reported €15m fee from Metz and he's rapidly established himself as one of the division's finest midfielders.

Priced at a reported €50m, interest in Camara is set to be rife and we've taken a look at which clubs may be looking to add the all-action midfielder to their ranks.

Liverpool

Despite spending in excess of £400m last summer, Liverpool head into the forthcoming window with a vast need for reinforcement in a number of areas, the midfield department in particular.

While Dominik Szoboszlai has enjoyed his most productive Reds campaign, Alexis Mac Allister's standards have notably dropped and Ryan Gravenberch would undoubtedly benefit from a return to his favoured number eight role. Meanwhile, Wataru Endo has played just 170 Premier League minutes this campaign and Curtis Jones looks likely to depart.

There's a glaring lack of athleticism at the base of Liverpool's midfield this campaign, and Camara fits the profile of a high-ceiling midfielder capable of adding much-needed legs to the engine room. Where the Senegalese midfielder prospers physically, he certainly doesn't lack technically, praised for his ability to progress the ball with intricate, line-breaking passes.

While Camara wouldn't solve all of Liverpool's problems, he could fill a notable void in their midfield whilst simultaneously aiding Gravenberch's game.

Newcastle United

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that "Newcastle have genuine interest in Lamine Camara while there are more clubs tracking AS Monaco midfielder", adding that "initial talks" have already taken place.

While on paper, Newcastle are well covered in midfield, they may be forced into selling some important players in the summer window and so Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães could be subject to interest.

The Magpies have often targeted midfielders with the 6/8 mold, and Camara is no different. Should Newcastle opt to keep Eddie Howe, Camara seems an ideal fit for the Newcastle midfield but, as was the case with a number of the targets in the 2025/26 window, they will face competition to secure his signature.

Manchester United

Last summer was a window of centre forward signings, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal adding to their front lines, and the approaching window is likely to see a number of teams add to their midfield, the Red Devils included.

Casemiro is set to leave the club when his contract at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, while Manuel Ugarte has barely had a kick since Michael Carrick's return and could also seek a new challenge elsewhere.

This leaves Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount as Man Utd's central midfield options, and so they're expected to add at least two players to the engine room.

Camara is valued at €50M and, while this isn't necessarily a low fee, it comes at a significantly lower cost than what they'd be expected to pay for Elliot Anderson, who Nottingham Forest are reportedly pricing at £120m+.
