Junior Kroupi equalled a record set by Wayne Rooney more than 20 years ago in Bournemouth's draw with Leeds on Wednesday.
Defender Marcos Senesi set the forward away with a lovely left-footed through ball, but Kroupi still had plenty to do, touching the ball beyond the Leeds defence before unleashing a fabulous strike that rifled into the back of Karl Darlow's net.
Kroupi has enjoyed a phenomenal breakout season at the Vitality Stadium, with his 11th goal of the campaign seeing him surpass the departed Antoine Semenyo as the club's top scorer in all competitions.
At just 19, the French youth international has been prolific for Andoni Iraola's side, and has now drawn level with the highest-scoring campaign from a teenager in a single Premier League season.
In the summer of 2004 Rooney became the most expensive player in history under the age of 20 when Manchester United paid Everton £27million to bring the forward to Old Trafford.
In his two seasons on Merseyside the precocious talent had made an immediate impact in senior football and already had more than 70 senior appearances under his belt when he arrived at Sir Alex Ferguson's all-conquering side.
In his United debut Rooney netted a hat-trick in a 6-2 win over Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League, and his goalscoring form continued domestically throughout the 2004-05 season.
With various injuries limiting the involvement of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Louis Saha, Rooney was increasingly relied upon and finished the season as the club's top scorer, with 11 Premier League goals in 29 appearances.
Prior to Kroupi the most recent player to earn a place in the top 10 teenage goalscorers was Alejandro Garnacho, who netted seven goals and one of the few shining lights of a United side that slumped to eighth in the table under Erik ten Hag in 2023-24.
