The Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel has ruled that all three penalty decisions in Manchester United's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth were correct.
Manchester United went ahead at the Vitality Stadium from the spot when Matheus Cunha's shirt was pulled by Alex Jimenez, a decision the KMI Panel backed unanimously, stating that "Jimenez clearly pulls the shirt of Cunha in a non-footballing manner".
The controversy started five minutes later, however, when Amad Diallo went down following a push from Adrien Truffert, only for the Cherries to go up the other end and equalise. While most observers would have agreed giving a second penalty in the circumstances would have been soft, the nature of the penalty awarded to Bournemouth 10 minutes later invoked the ire from Red Devils boss Michael Carrick.
Evanilson was sent through in the area, only to go down under near-identical contact to that which felled Amad, with referee Stuart Attwell giving a penalty and a red card. The KMI Panel, however, agreed with this decision four to one,
After the draw, Carrick said: "So the Cunha one, he gives, the second one on Amad he doesn't, which is, I think, almost identical, really, two hands on someone in the box, and they go over and they're in control of the ball.
"Massive moment and I don't understand how you can give one and not the other -- it's crazy. It's as obvious as you can get.
"It's clear, if that's what he believes is a penalty to start with then the second one has to be."
It was then announced the club would make a formal complaint to Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to seek an explanation for the decisions.
