India team news & predicted lineup to face New Zealand

India and New Zealand face off for a second time this week after the visitors emerged victorious in Christchurch on Thursday.

The series opener was an absolute thriller; New Zealand setting 226 for India to chase down, which they did, but only with two balls remaining.

Sanju Samson set India well on their way, smashing 67 off just 33 balls, and he was well supported by captain Shreyas Iyer and Naman Dhir who made 42 a piece. Dhir's contribution was ultimately a match-winning one, his 42 coming from 15 deliveries at a strike-rate of 280.00.

Successfully hunting down 223 on foreign soil will give India plenty of confidence heading into the weekend and, as a result, they aren't expected to make many changes to their XI.

However, a groin injury picked up by Ishan Kishan will force them into at least one.

Injury forced the 28-year-old to slide down to five in the opening game earlier this week and the BCCI have since confirmed that a right adductor strain will keep him out of Saturday's clash.

Kishan's absence paves the way for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to return to the side, set to partner Abhishek Sharma at the top of the order and moving Samson down to three.

Sooryavanshi has watched India's last four T20Is from the sidelines and was last in action during the Asian Games final against Pakistan where he made 15. Some have been underwhelmed by his start in the international game, however, he does average above 30, striking at a healthy 186.36.

His inclusion in the team has caused a few tactical issues so far, with sides able to get right-arm spin into the game early in the powerplay against two left-handed openers. Despite this, India are likely to head into this one with the same configuration due to the lack of options available in their wider squad.

Following on from Thursday's win, the rest of the XI is likely to remain the same Dhir proving to be very, very handy with both bat and ball after just six T20I appearances.

India predicted lineup

1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3 Sanju Samson (WK), 4 Shreyas Iyer (C), 5 Tilak Varma, 6 Naman Dhir, 7 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 8 Axar Patel, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Arshdeep Singh, 11 Mayank Yadav
