Marcus Buckland's Horse Racing Betting Tips for Wednesday 2nd September

Flat racing again holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with five meetings scheduled, three of which will conclude in the evening.

Racing Post tipster, Marcus Buckland, has provided three recommendations for the day's action.

16:30 Bath - Buckland Belle @ 15/8

Ollie Sangster's Buckland Belle has been holding her form exceptionally well this season and has been unfortunate not to have added to July's Leicester win.

She looked the winner for most of the way before stamina ran out over 1m2f at Brighton at the start of last and was pipped in the dying strides by a subsequent winner back at this distance at Windsor nine days ago.

She's been left alone by the handicapper on a mark of 60 since her latest defeat and looks to have plenty in her favour from stall one, with Tom Marquand, who has form figures of 12 aboard the daughter of St Mark’s Basilica, retaining the ride.

17:45 Newcastle - Here Comes Louie @ 10/3

Roger Fell's Here Comes Louie hung his chance away when a beaten favourite at Redcar last time, but he'd shaped like a first win was imminent in his two runs before that and warrants another chance.

The three-year-old gelding failed to stay middle distances earlier in the year and has been much more at home since reverting to a mile.

He appeared desperately unlucky not to win when short-headed in classified company at Thirsk in July and bettering that on the figures when again finding one too good back in a handicap at Southwell at the beginning of last month.

His latest Redcar effort was disappointing, but it came just two days after Southwell, and he may simply need more time between races.

19:40 Navan - Bang Bang @ 9/1

Noel Meade's Bang Bang was notably keen to post in her first-time blinkers prior to finishing fourth at Galway last month, a performance that was well worth upgrading, the daughter of Sands Of Mali having been travelling strongly in behind the leaders when short of room and chopped off on the home bend.

Her winning chance quickly evaporated from that point, but she stuck well to her task under pressure and was beaten just four lengths.

The headgear is retained and, while this looks a potentially stronger race on paper, she makes plenty of each-way appeal, particularly if reproducing the level of form she showed when runner-up at Leopardstown in June.
