It is The Everest at Randwick and Racing Post Tipster Jonny Pearson is on hand to run you through his NAP and next best selection for the big day, including a selection in the feature.
It is a high quality card at Randwick, featuring two Group 1 races, with the feature being the A$20 million Everest. Ka Ying Rising is looking to win the race for the second year in a row and further cement his status as one of the best, if not the best racehorse in the world.
Following this, the Listed Silver Eagle looks a competitive affair but one where finding the winner looks very possible.
The other Group 1 on the card is the King Charles III Stakes, and it is highly probable Autumn Glow goes on to win again and continue her impressive career, which has seen just one defeat to date.
Jimmysstar (each-way) - 14/1
Rider | Nash Rawiller |
Trainer | Ciaron Maher |
Owner | A Kheir, J A O'Neill Et Al |
Age | 7 |
Overall Form | 534291 |
The reality of this race is that Ka Ying Rising is arguably the best horse in the world and is without doubt the most likely winner of the race.
He doesn’t offer value though and given he underperformed in the race last year, the ground has a good chance of being softer than what is optimal for him. He also has a wide draw and one at a bigger price can take advantage if it doesn’t all go to plan for him, and hopefully get place money at the least.
The Nap is Jimmysstar, and he has been in good form of late, winning a Group 1 on his most recent start.
Further to this, he ran in this very race last year, and finished third in what was a good performance.
He has arguably had a better prep this time round, coming in off the back of a win and a big run is expected from the sprinter who has won a Group 1 at the course previously.

Beiwacht - 11/5
Rider | Nash Rawiller |
Trainer | Chris Waller |
Owner | Godolphin |
Age | 4 |
Overall Form | 826119 |
Our Next best bet is in the Silver Eagle and our selection is the Chris Waller trained Beiwacht.
He has a bit of a mixed profile and is by no means prolific with just four wins from his 15 starts, but he has filled the places on four more occasions, and arrives in fair form, despite not winning last time.
Two runs ago he was electric when winning a Group 1 at Caulfield, and if he is to turn up in a similar vein of form, he has outstanding claims.
That win is the best piece of form on offer in the field, and with this being a lower class race, Beiwacht really should take all the beating, for a trainer and jockey who both know what it takes to be successful in the race.
Jonny Pearson is a handicapper for the Racing Post who has been in good form recently, tipping Warwoven to win the Caulfield Guineas last week.
