There are six meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday, with a trio of afternoon Flat cards followed by another three evening fixtures.
Racing Post tipster, Marcus Buckland, has provided three recommendations for the action including one for John and Thady Gosden at Nottingham.
14:50 Nottingham - Outflank @ 4/1
17:20 Lingfield - My Boy Harry @ 5/1
17:35 Newcastle - Palmarian @ 20/1
14:50 Nottingham - Outflank @ 4/1
John and Thady Gosden’s Outflank ran well when third on his debut over 1m3f at Kempton in December, despite showing notable greenness at various stages of the race.
He again looked as though his recent Salisbury reappearance was also needed from an educational point of view, so there is the hope the son of Churchill can join those dots and take a significant step forward on Tuesday.
The three-year-old set some steady early fractions under 3lb claimer Luke Catton on his comeback at the start of the month, and was quickly swamped when things got serious in the home straight.
However, he stuck nicely to his task under pressure, beaten a total of only two lengths by the 83-rated odds-on favourite Ranga Tan and improving on his Kempton run to the tune of 10lb (RPR 83).
He didn’t appear entirely in love with the track’s undulations, becoming unbalanced at times, so this more conventional venue should see him in a better light.
17:20 Lingfield - My Boy Harry @ 5/1
The Jim and Suzi Best-trained My Boy Harry ran a remarkable race on his return to turf at Lingfield 10 days ago, the four-year-old sprouting wings and making up a mountain of ground inside the final furlong to finish fourth of the eight runners, having been tailed off for much of the race under Kieran Fox.
The gelding, who is 4-34 in his career, including 3-25 on turf, has done all his winning at 7f and a mile, and he was simply taken off his feet on a rare start at the minimum distance last time.
He finished like a rocket, though, beaten just two-and-a-half lengths and should make a bold bid in a weak event now back at his optimum trip.
17:35 Newcastle - Palmarian @ 20/1
Ruth Carr’s Palmarian is running out of chances, but he retains far more ability than his current official mark of 65 implies.
The four-year-old started out with the Gosdens and ran a couple of solid races in defeat for that yard, including when running to Racing Post Ratings of 80 on his debut at Newmarket and 77 when fourth on his handicap debut at Yarmouth the following the season.
He’s really struggled with consistency in his career so far, but there were encouraging signs on his debut for this yard at Southwell (6f) and at Redcar (7f) earlier this month.
Now down to an official mark of 65, he reopposes his most recent conqueror Lord Capulet on 7lb better terms and will likely represent far better value in the market than that rival.
