Lingfield Horse Racing

Lingfield is the scene of racing action all year around, with something for everyone including Flat racing on both turf and the all-weather Polytrack course, plus jumps meetings.

With more than 65 fixtures across the year, there's never too long to wait for the next Lingfield meeting and the Surrey track hosts everything from 0-50 handicaps to Classic trials.

Highlights on the calendar include the Winter Oaks, the All-Weather Championship Vase Day on Good Friday and the Lingfield Derby and Oaks trials in May, while a number of evening meetings are held in the summer combined with popular after-racing concerts.

With a location close to the borders of Surrey, Sussex and Kent, the track remains a staple of the English racing programme.

Here's our guide to Lingfield Park.

Track Layout

Flat Course (Turf)

The turf Flat course at Lingfield includes a straight chute of up to seven furlongs and 140 yards. The main track is left-handed, around one-and-a-half miles and sharp.

The back straight features a noticeable climb, with a steep descent down the hill into the home straight, which is around three-and-a-half furlongs.

It is similar in nature to Epsom which makes it an ideal venue for the Derby and Oaks trials.

Jumps Course (Turf)

The turf jumps course consists of a one mile and five furlong circuit over fences, with the hurdles course slightly shorter. There are two hurdles in the home straight, three down the back and one downhill fence.

Chasers will see three fences in the home straight, three plain fences and an open ditch in the back straight and one plain fence and another ditch at the top of the hill before a long downhill run into the straight.
