Horse Racing Betting Tips for Tuesday 21st July

Following the abandonment of Musselburgh, four meetings remain in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday; three of which are evening cards.

Racing Post tipster Marcus Buckland has provided three recommendations for the day’s action, with a selection each from Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Salisbury.

Tuesday's Horse Racing Betting Tips

15:15 Nottingham - March On Time @ 5/2
18:30 Wolverhampton - Dark Rosa @ 9/1
20:21 Salisbury - Dreambird Dolly @ 4/1

Horse Racing

15:15 Nottingham - March On Time @ 5/2

The Clive Cox-trained March On Time had valid excuses for her last-time-out Salisbury defeat and warrants another chance to confirm her debut promise, now reverting to sprinting in a first-time hood.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit, who is closely related to 1m2f turf/1m4f AW winner Time To Blossom and is a half-sister to the smart Repeater and All Out, finished a promising third of 10 behind the subsequently highly tried Gold Digger on her introduction over 6f at Windsor last month.

Noticeably green under pressure on that occasion, she was expected to come on plenty for the experience.

However, she reared and lost ground at the start at Salisbury and failed to convince she saw out the extra furlong.

This should be a more suitable test and her chief rivals set only a modest standard.

18:30 Wolverhampton - Dark Rosa @ 9/1

Stall 10 is not ideal for Georgina Nicholls' Dark Rosa, but she's worthy of a small interest, having made good late gains from an unpromising position to finish third at Salisbury last month.

The four-year-old started out with George Boughey, winning a Pontefract maiden on her fourth start, before moving to Mark Rimell, where she proved expensive to follow (she was a beaten favourite on her last five runs for that outfit).

Dark Rosa has been far from prolific for Nicholls, but won in good style over a mile-and-a-half-a-furlong at this venue in November and returns to the AW for the first time since, encouragingly off the same mark of 66.

David Probert, who has thrived since coming back from an unsuccessful stint in Hong Kong, has been booked for the ride.

20:21 Salisbury - Dreambird Dolly @ 4/1

The hat-trick-seeking Dottie Diamond is sure to be popular towards the head of the market, but the four-year-old may struggle to confirm her recent Leicester superiority over Dreambird Dolly under a 5lb penalty.

The selection raced rather keenly out in front at the Midlands track and was worried out of it late on, going down by a length-and-a-quarter.

However, John Gallagher's filly had previously beaten Dottie Diamond by four lengths in classified company at the same track off level weights, and I’m hopeful that she can reconfirm those placings on these 7lb more favourable terms.

The booking of Rossa Ryan for the first time takes the eye.
