With conditions already on the slow side of good and further rain expected on Thursday evening, expect it to be testing at Haydock on Friday afternoon. One horse that should appreciate the ground is Woven.
Four of this veteran's five career wins have come on ground slower than good, including a course-and-distance success on soft.
He is back on his last winning handicap mark from last year, a heavy ground win at Ayr, and that should aid his cause.
The only time he has had his conditions this season was at the opening meeting at Doncaster, when he ran a fine fourth of 19, but he has held his form reasonably well subsequently despite not getting his ground, including a one-length defeat in a typically competitive York handicap.
He is a hold-up sort that needs a decent pace to aim at, which looks likely in this race with a few front-runners in opposition including Tip Foster, who should give him a nice tow into the race.
Michael Dods’s 10-year-old is always a danger when he is down at Class 4 level and he has plenty in his favour.

Rosario was backed off the boards to win at Sandown on Saturday but Lipsink ran him mighty close and he looks worth chancing over the minimum.
Lipsink is officially 2lb well-in for that Sandown effort and he is another selection that will not mind the rain that is coming to the north west.
Mick Appleby’s gelding came good at this stage of the season last term, rattling off four wins between the end of August and October and seems back in the same sort of form this term with two runner-up efforts from three outings.
Given that he has been kept fresh for an autumn campaign, he may be capable of taking another step forward.
16:20 Haydock - Cypriot Diaspora @ 15/8
Another horse that arrives at Haydock well-in after a big run last weekend is Cypriot Diaspora for Rod Millman.
This mare only has a 5lb penalty to carry for her six-length romp at Ffos Las last Friday and she is due to go up to a mark of 70 when the assessor has a say, meaning she is a whopping 7lb well-in for this contest.
The daughter of Adaay won going away last week and also will not mind slower conditions having scored on soft before.
While she has done all of her recent winning at Ffos Las, Haydock’s layout is not dissimilar (left-handed, flat, round a bend, galloping long straight) and she ran with credit on her only previous course outing last season.
She will be a warm order for this contest but the five-year-old fully deserves to be and this race looks like a good opportunity for her to increase her relatively impressive strike-rate (for the grade) on turf, which stands at six wins from 31 starts.
