Phill Anderson's Ayr Betting Tips for Friday 18th September

Day two of Ayr's Gold Cup meeting is Friday's horse racing highlight and Phill Anderson of the Racing Post supplies us with his best bets.

Friday's card at Ayr features the Ayr Bronze Cup and we have selections and analysis for that contest and two others.

15:05 Ayr - Catching The Moon @ 16/1

The Fillies' Sprint looks competitive, but one runner appears a little overpriced in the early markets.

Catching The Moon's big day came at this meeting last season when she won the two-year-old Group 3, but she hasn't had her conditions in three outings this term.

However, it was a significant step back in the right direction when fourth of 10 in a Listed contest at Pontefract last time out, sticking on well from the rear.

Her hold-up style could suit this contest, with no shortage of pace in this 15-runner race, and a high draw could also help.

Richard Fahey has previously enjoyed success in this race and this filly looks overpriced from an each-way perspective with bet365 paying four places on the race.

15:40 Ayr - Woven @ 14/1

The Ayr Bronze Cup is a nice warm-up for the big race on Saturday, and one horse who loves it north of the border is Woven.

He was only beaten a neck in this contest last season from the same handicap mark he runs off here.

The 10-year-old then went on to score over this course and distance later in the campaign. He also finished runner-up in the Ayr Silver Cup in his pomp.

Woven has shown plenty of his old zest in some of his recent starts, including a narrow defeat at York and with plenty of pace in this contest, it should set up nicely for him.

His latest effort, when fifth at Haydock, is worth marking up. He finished second on his side, and his jockey, Connor Beasley, knows him well and should be able to deliver him late provided they produce a decent gallop.

Slow ground is another big factor in his favour and Beasley will have options from stall 12, so he makes plenty of each-way appeal.

17:20 Ayr - Cascade Hall @ 11/8

Ayr's Friday finale looks like an excellent opportunity for Cascade Hall to get another win on the board.

Jim Goldie's seven-year-old travelled strongly throughout last week's success at Chester, taking it up a long way out before powering clear in the closing stages.

That race looked competitive on paper and, notably, he escapes a penalty for that handicap that was limited to apprentice riders, meaning he finds himself 7lb well in on Friday.

If he performs to the same level again, he'll be difficult to beat, and he looks like a worthy favourite in a winnable contest.
