Owen Burrows’ runners are also in cracking form with the yard running at a 30% strike-rate over the last fortnight and Nanino Niyati ought to run a big race in the fillies’ handicap on the card.
This filly has really kicked into gear after a stable switch in the off-season, coming on from her return to win a Newbury handicap second time out, a race that worked out well.
She then ran two belters in defeat, including a one-length loss over course and distance on her penultimate start, before a nose defeat at Glorious Goodwood when she was a little unlucky in the run.
That form has also received a bit of a boost with the winner running with credit at Listed level at big odds.
A 3lb rise looks on the lenient side for that effort and given that she’s a lightly-raced sort, there could easily be more to come.
17:10 Ascot - Mesaafi @ 14/1
The finale looks like a competitive event but with bet365 paying an extra place on the race, Mesaafi could be a bit overpriced from an each-way perspective.
Ross Burdon’s gelding bounced back to form at Nottingham last time after a couple of below-par efforts and he shaped like he would relish the return to a stiffer five furlongs that day.
It’s also worth noting that he’s made the frame in three of his five starts at this venue, including his peak effort on Racing Post Ratings which also came on the same sort of ground he’s going to encounter on Saturday.
He ought to get a decent pace to aim at, with plenty of the field likely to go forward, and he may be capable of making the frame at rewarding odds.
