15:20 Lingfield - Nothing But Love @ 11/8

Dr John Scargill appears to only have one horse in training at present, that being Nothing But Love, who looks capable of opening her account for the Newmarket handler at Lingfield on Tuesday.

The four-year-old ran to a Racing Post Rating of 66 when fourth over a mile here in July and again when chasing home long odds-on favourite Cerro Blanco at Newmarket over 7f last month.

She is ideally drawn in stall one for a front-runner and a repeat of either of her last two runs could well prove good enough considering the relatively weak level of competition.

15:40 Ripon - Spirit Of Applause @ 5/2

The Tim Easterby-trained Spirit Of Applause has been hitting the crossbar of late and should go very well again, despite a 2lb rise.

The six-year-old has yet to win this year, but he has enjoyed a solid season overall, finishing in the frame on all bar one of his six outings and regularly running to Racing Post Ratings in excess of his current official mark of 69.

He has found just one too good for him the last twice, most recently when losing out by the minimum margin of a nose behind the in-form Mr Cool at Redcar 10 days ago.

Ripon is a tricky track, so the fact that he’s already won over course-and-distance in the past is very much a positive.

18:20 Wolverhampton - Variety Act @ 15/8

August proved a profitable month for Sir Mark Prescott and his good run looks set to continue courtesy of handicap debutant Variety Act at Wolverhampton on Tuesday.

The selection, a three-year-old son of Lope De Vega, showed a fair level of form in two of his three outings as a juvenile last year, suffering a neck defeat on his introduction over 7f at Chelmsford and when fourth over the same trip at Kempton.

He has been off for 195 days, but runners from this yard are usually fit and ready to go after such an absence.

Variety Act is almost certain to relish this step up in distance when considering his running style and pedigree, so should find enough improvement to see him overcome an opening official mark of 71.
