The IPL has quickly become cricket's flagship domestic competition across the world.
Each year the brightest and best from around the globe flock to the sub continent to play a part in the tournament, but it is the home team that have the deepest talent pool.
We take a look at the highest Indian wicket takers in IPL history...
Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of the mainstays of IPL cricket for the last decade, however, he doesn't often get the credit that his performances deserve.
A prolific wicket taker in the middle overs, Chahal sits at the top of the three with 221 poles to his name at an impressive average of 22.77. His crowning moment in the league is undoubtedly his hat-trick and five-wicket haul against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022.
Despite his immense talent, Chahal has never been a regular for India and has now gone almost three years without an appearance for his country.
Bhuveneshwar Kumar is one of the most talented bowlers of his generation and, heading into IPL 2026, has the opportunity to become just the second bowler in the league's history to reach 200 wickets.
Twice a winner of the Purple Cap, Kumar is among India's bowling greats and was the nation's first player to take a five-wicket haul in all three formats of international cricket.
Now retired, Piyush Chawla was an IPL mainstay all the way from its inaugural season in 2008 and right the way through to IPL 2024.
He began his IPL career with Kings XI Punjab, taking 87 wickets in six seasons before Kolkata Knight Riders paid ₹4.25 lakh for his services at the 2014 auction.
Although still very consistent, Chawla wouldn't quite hit the heights that he scaled with his previous club but he did prove that class is permanent during IPL 2023 when he took 22 wickets while playing for Mumbai Indians.
There is no doubting Ravichandran Ashwin's standing as one of the best all-rounders of the modern era and his numbers throughout his time in the IPL serve to prove this.
The two-time IPL winner amassed 187 across 221 matches, as well as churning out 833 runs, even averaging 27.28 during IPL 2022.
Now 39, Ashwin began his career with Chennai Super Kings before an eight-year spell away from the team where he plied his trade for the likes of Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions.
CSK then picked Ashwin up for ₹97.5 million in the 2025 IPL auction before he announced his retirement ahead of the new season.
While the majority of the players so far have either retired, or at least entering the latter stages of their career, Jasprit Bumrah looks like he is at the peak of his powers.
Injury issues have maybe stopped him from playing as many times as some of the others on the list, however, his numbers speak for themselves.
Bumrah has taken 183 wickets in just 145 games at an incredible average of just 18.23, bamboozling batters right throughout his career with his unorthodox action and deadly variations.
