Uruguay v Spain World Cup Prediction: 11/8 La Roja to win with ease

Spain quickly got over their shock opening draw with Cape Verde to dismantle Saudi Arabia in their second game and they should seal top spot in Group H with victory over Uruguay in Guadalajara.

Spain are plenty of people’s picks to win the World Cup after their Euros triumph two years ago and they can underline their credentials by seeing off a Uruguay side who could be heading home early.

Uruguay v Spain Prediction

Best Bet: Spain to win to nil @ 11/8

Spain were left dazed by Cape Verde in their Group H opener when somehow, despite creating scores of opportunities and having 27 shots, they were held to a 0-0 draw by the debutants.

They’ve been here before though, quickly getting over an opening-day setback to prevail overall when they memorably lost their opening group game in the 2010 World Cup to Switzerland before coming good.

Spain possess far too much quality to not respond positively, and they duly dispatched a weak Saudi team 4-0 to take back control of the section.

Uruguay have stuttered to draws with the same opponents, 2-2 with Cape Verde after an uninspiring 1-1 with Saudi Arabia, and could be heading home depending on the outcome of the other game, played simultaneously in the early hours of Saturday.

The South Americans were fairly dominant in their opener and deserved the equaliser they got through Maxi Araujo late on, but they were expected to beat Cape Verde next.

However, the small island nation to hold them to a 2-2 draw when Marcelo Bielsa's side only scored with both their efforts on target.

There’s nothing to suggest this won’t be another convincing Spain victory with the European champions flexing their muscles nicely with several more goals to confirm themselves as group winners.

Spain have kept back-to-back clean sheets in World Cup 2026 so far, and in four of their last six outings, while La Celeste have only scored five goals across their last six matches to suggest this should go in La Roja's favour to nil.

Alternative Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 6/5

Despite a lack of goals from Uruguay lately, Spain - aside from the Cape Verde anomaly - have been scoring regularly enough.

They beat Peru 3-1 in their final warm-up friendly and have an abundance of attacking talent to steamroll a lot of sides.

Up against a Uruguay outfit that are likely to be open at the back considering Bielsa's usual expansive tactics, Spain can profit.

Mikel Oyarzabal and Lamine Yamal, who both scored against Saudi Arabia, plus Ferran Torres and Nico Williams, offer an attacking spark and creative edge, while with Rodri, Dani Olmo and Pedri controlling things in midfield, Spain should dominate.

Uruguay v Spain Bet Builder

  • Spain to win

  • Lamine Yamal 2+ shots on target

  • Mikel Oyarzabal 2+ shots on target

    Pays 11/2

A sensible starting point for the Bet Builder for this Group H finale is a Spain win, and adding in two of La Roja's best attackers to both have at least two shots on target could pay off.

Oyarzabal was a real menace against Saudi, scoring twice to take his international tally up to 27 goals, while he also got an assist.

The Real Sociedad forward had three shots on target in the 4-0 win, while he had one shot on target in the frustrating opening draw with Cape Verde.

Yamal shook off lingering fitness issues to start in the second group game, when he scored once from his two shots on target.

Expect the pair to be key again to help Luis de la Fuente's men seal top spot.
