Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in the transfer market this summer and reports suggest they plan to bolster their attack by signing Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo.
Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi has overhauled his squad after keeping the north London club in the Premier League on the final day of last season.
Tottenham have managed to improve their defence and midfield so far, and earlier this week, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested in an appearance on the Men in Blazers podcast that it was worth monitoring Gakpo's future as Spurs really like the player.
Those comments have now been backed up by Spurs insider Paul O'Keefe and it appears that De Zerbi has made him their main target in the final third.
De Zerbi eager to overhaul Spurs front line
Earlier in the transfer window, Tottenham were linked with a move for Manchester City's Savinho, but reports suggest Spurs are keen to sign both as they look to move away from the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Gakpo was left frustrated last season under former Reds boss Arne Slot, despite making 52 appearances across four competitions.
He was a substitute on 11 occasions and finished the season with nine goals and six assists.
The Netherlands international put that disappointment behind him and helped Ronald Koeman's side reach the Round of 32 at the World Cup, before they crashed out to Morocco on penalties.
Gakpo scored three goals and grabbed one assist and his performances have done enough to tempt Tottenham scouts.
Spurs have already splashed out £250million to bolster their squad, but Martin Dubravka, Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi have all joined on free transfers.
Centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke joined from Brighton, while Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali were brought in from West Ham and Newcastle United.
Spurs have not lost any first-team attackers, but their lack of goals last season was obviously a concern and they have a few injury concerns in the final third.

Former PSV Eindhoven ace Gakpo has been at Anfield since 2023 and he has netted 32 goals in 127 appearances in the Premier League since joining the club.
Gakpo's versatility has been a major asset for the Reds and he played a major role in their title-winning campaign under Slot.
Last year's regression was far from ideal, but he was one of several Reds players who failed to perform under Slot before he was eventually replaced by former Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool have already signed left winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, which hints he is their main choice out wide, while the Reds continue to be linked with Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola.
Reports on Merseyside suggest Liverpool would be open to selling Gakpo, but they are not actively pushing the Dutchman out of the door.
Further sales may change their stance, but with just a few weeks left until the new season gets under way, Gakpo's future looks like it could be one of the main talking points.
