St Mirren have put themselves in the box seat to stay in the Scottish premiership after they earned a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their play-off against Partick Thistle on Thursday, but their opponents will still fancy their chances of gaining promotion.
Partick head to Paisley defending a 17-match unbeaten run and will feel they can do some damage against the Buddies, who may be nervous having scored just 30 goals in their 38 Scottish Premiership assignments this term.
It all promises to be an intriguing evening and the tie could still go either way.
Best Bet - Both teams to score @ 10/11
Alternative Bet - Killian Phillips to score at any time @ 5/2
Bet Builder - Draw or Partick Thistle double chance, Alex Gogic to be booked and the second half to have most goals @ 10/1
Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 10/11
A 1-1 first-leg draw has left this Scottish Premiership play-off final delicately poised and Championship pretenders Partick Thistle will be confident they can at least find the net at St Mirren in Monday’s return.
Both teams have scored in five of their last six games and they failed to score in just seven of their 36 second-tier outings this season, so a trip to St Mirren Stadium should not hold too many fears.
The Buddies struggled for goals in the regular season, scoring just 11 in 19 home matches, but they can be expected to be more positive against a team from a lower division.
Having said that, though, the visitors can contribute and goals at both ends look a distinct possibility..
Alternative Bet: Killian Phillips to score at any time @ 5/2
Goals have been an issue for St Mirren all season and they have gone some way towards remedying that by installing midfielder Killian Phillips in a more advanced position.
He had 11 efforts on goal in his final four regular-season outings, including five in the 2-0 win at Aberdeen when he scored the second goal.
He was on hand to score for the Paisley outfit at Firhill and it would not be a shock if he found the net again when he is back on his own patch.
While St Mirren are strong favourites to ensure they stay in the top flight, it may not be a straightforward assignment.
Partick deserve respect as they head to Paisley unbeaten in their last 17 matches and the lowest number of goals the Buddies have mustered this term makes them vulnerable.
Six of Thistles’ last eight games have finished level and it would not be a surprise if extra-time was required to discover the winner, so the draw-Patrick double-chance option is attractive.
Alex Gogic has picked up 12 bookings for the Buddies this season and looks set to be in the heart of the battle once again.
The three-man St Mirren defence could be busy, which would put pressure on the Cypriot and it would not be a surprise if another caution was forthcoming.
While there is a strong chance there will be goals at either end, it could still take a little while for the clash to burst into life.
Phillips’ opener in the first leg arrived just six minutes before the interval, so it is a strong option to complete the Bet Builder by selecting that there will be more goals in the second half.
