St Mirren v Celtic Prediction: Influential Nygren headlines 11/1 Bet Builder

The top two in the Scottish Premiership will meet on Saturday as leaders Celtic travel to the Marbill Coaches Stadium to take on high-flying St Mirren.

After coming through the play-offs to preserve their top-flight status at the end of last season, the Buddies have gone from strength to strength so far this term, picking up 10 points from their opening four Premiership fixtures.

Only Celtic, with a perfect four wins from four, have performed better than Craig McLeish's side, who will still have last season's Scottish League Cup final success over the Bhoys fresh in their minds.

However, the Bhoys have dominated recent league meetings between the pair and Martin O'Neill's side are yet to put a foot wrong domestically this season and have spent the final few days of the transfer window strengthening their squad.

St Mirren v Celtic Tips Summary

Best Bet - Celtic to win and over 3.5 goals @ 15/8
Alternative Bet - Camilo Duran to score first @ 15/4
Bet Builder - Over 2 Celtic goals, Benjamin Nygren to score or assist & Ryan Carr to be booked @ 11/1

St Mirren v Celtic Prediction

Best Bet: Celtic to win and over 3.5 goals @ 15/8

Celtic's perfect start to the domestic season has been overshadowed by their disastrous exit from the UEFA Champions League, as, despite at one stage holding a 4-0 aggregate lead over Austrian side LASK in their play-off tie, they collapsed to lose 5-4.

To their credit, O'Neill's side have bounced back from that setback by recording back-to-back league wins over Falkirk (2-1) and Aberdeen (3-0) and they are currently on an 11-match winning run in the Premiership.

The Bhoys have also been active in the transfer market, bringing in six new players during the final days of the window, including Chelsea youngsters Shim Mheuka and Landon Emenalo and Swiss international right-back Jordan Lotomba.

That should give a fresh look to the squad on Saturday and Celtic will expect to maintain their winning league run given they have only lost one of their last 18 meetings with Saints - albeit that loss did come in last season's League Cup final at Hampden.

This is also a much-improved St Mirren side from last season, with the Buddies having enjoyed three wins to nil across their opening four league games, although the exception during that run was a thrilling 3-3 draw with Motherwell in their last home fixture.

The goals should also flow on Saturday given a minimum of three have been scored in each of Celtic's last six matches, a sequence that includes 5-1 and 4-0 victories for O'Neill's team as well as the 5-1 defeat to LASK.

It finished 6-2 to Celtic when these two sides last met in the Scottish Cup semi-finals in April and although Saturday's result may not be quite as emphatic, the Bhoys can still win a high-scoring game.

Alternative Bet: Camilo Duran to score first @ 15/4

While a number of Celtic's new signings have only just got their feet under the table, Colombian forward Camilo Duran arrived at the club in early July and has quickly settled into life in the East End of Glasgow.

Duran has produced eight goal involvements, scoring six himself, in his first seven Celtic appearances and he has found the back of the net three times in the recent wins against Falkirk and Aberdeen.

The former Qarabag star opened the scoring in both of those games and he can repeat that trick on what will be his first visit to the Marbill Coaches Stadium.

St Mirren v Celtic Bet Builder Tip

  • Over 2 Celtic goals

  • Benjamin Nygren to score or assist

  • Ryan Carr to be booked

    Pays 11/1

Celtic have scored 15 goals across their five domestic matches this season and they can, at the very least, maintain their average of netting three goals per game on Saturday.

Alongside Duran, Benjamin Nygren can play a part in the Bhoys' goalscoring efforts. The Sweden international led the way for Celtic last season with 16 Premiership goals and he has scored or assisted 10 times in just seven appearances across all competitions this term.

Since arriving at Parkhead in June 2025, Nygren has scored or assisted against 10 of the 11 sides he has faced in the Premiership, the exception being St Mirren, although that looks set to change this weekend.

To complete this bet builder, it could be worth siding with St Mirren midfielder Ryan Carr to receive his fourth yellow card of the Premiership season.

Carr, a summer arrival from Premier League Ipswich Town, has picked up three yellows and given away 12 fouls in his first four league appearances for the Buddies and is already becoming a familiar name to officials.
