League of Ireland Premier Division strugglers Sligo Rovers will look to end a run of three straight defeats when they host Shelbourne on Saturday night.
John Russell’s men are only five points clear of League of Ireland bottom club Waterford and will be eager to pull away with a victory.
Shelbourne will head to The Showgrounds under interim boss Lorcan Fitzgerald following the departure of manager Joey O'Brien who left the club on Thursday. The Reds suffered a first defeat in 10 on Monday, losing 3-0 at home to Bohemians.
Best Bet: Shelbourne to win @ 7/10
Alternative Bet: Both teams to score - No @ 10/11
Bet Builder: Under 2.5 goals, Daniel Kelly anytime goalscorer & over six corners @ 14/1
Best Bet: Shelbourne to win @ 7/10
It’s all change at Shelbourne following the news that head coach Joey O’Brien left the club on Thursday.
The former West Ham and Bolton defender’s exit comes after a poor start to the season. It appeared the Reds had turned a corner following a nine-game unbeaten run but they lost 3-0 at Tolka Park against Bohemians on Monday.
The Reds, who are looking forward to UEFA Conference League qualifying matches in July, are fifth in the League of Ireland table but seven points off third place.
However, despite the recent setback and switch in the dugout, interim manager Fitzgerald will lead a possibly rejuvenated side to Sligo on Saturday.
Shelbourne had won four and drawn five in nine matches so should be confident of getting a result against a Sligo Rovers side who have managed just one victory in eight games.
While that Sligo win was against league leaders Shamrock Rovers, Shels should have enough to get the three points on Saturday night.
Alternative Bet: Both teams to score - No @ 10/11
Sligo Rovers are the lowest scorers in the League of Ireland, managing to find the back of the net just 15 times in 21 matches. That’s 10 goals fewer than bottom club Waterford.
Rovers’ struggles in front of goal have seen them win just five games this season.
Sligo have failed to score in their last two matches and may struggle to get past the Shelbourne rearguard.
Shels have kept three clean sheets in their last eight matches and have yet to concede against Sligo after facing Rovers twice already this season.
Backing at least one clean sheet could prove a smart play with John Russell’s team finding it difficult to convert in the League of Ireland.
While Sligo Rovers continue to struggle when it comes to hitting the target, Shelbourne have drawn a blank only once away from home.
However, Shels have not scored more than two goals and so backing under 2.5 goals at The Showgrounds kicks off this Bet Builder.
Daniel Kelly has scored four league goals for Shelbourne so far this campaign, including the March winner against Sligo Rovers.
With top scorer Harry Wood a doubt, Kelly should start and will be involved in the attacking action for the visitors.
Looking at set-pieces, games involving Sligo Rovers average more than 11 corners while matches featuring Shelbourne see exactly nine.
With Rovers recording just over four and Shelbourne just under five, they should combine for more than six combined.
