Northern Ireland v Guinea Prediction: Goals to flow at 11/10 in Cadiz

Michael O'Neill is fresh off signing a contract extension with Northern Ireland and he brings a youthful squad to Spain to face Guinea on Thursday evening.

After a stint as interim boss at Blackburn Rovers - where he helped stave off relegation from the Championship - O'Neill rejected overtures to remain at Ewood Park and, instead, signed an extension to his contract last week keeping him at the helm until 2032.

He now takes his team to the Estadio Ciudad de La Linea in Cadiz to face Guinea before tackling World Cup-bound France in Lille next Monday, as Northern Ireland start their preparations for the Nations League campaign beginning in September.

Northern Ireland v Guinea Tips Summary

Best Bet - Both teams to score @ 11/10
Alternative Bet - Northern Ireland to win 3-1 @ 18/1
Bet Builder - Over 2 goals, Guinea over 4 corners & Isaac Price to score anytime @ 11/1

Northern Ireland v Guinea Prediction

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 11/10

This could prove to be an entertaining tussle in the Andalusian port town of Cadiz.

Both teams have found the net in five of Northern Ireland's last seven friendlies - the exceptions being a 2-0 win over minnows Andorra and a 1-0 reverse against Iceland in which Brodie Spencer was sent off for O'Neill's side before the hour.

They have both scored and conceded in encounters with Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Wales.

Guinea were defeated by Benin in their most recent outing in a friendly in March, losing to the only goal, but both teams had found the net in four of their five games prior to that, with the Syli National scoring nine times.

It should be hot and humid evening in Cadiz come Thursday, where the game kicks off at 18:00 local time and we could see an open contest.

Alternative Bet: Northern Ireland to win 3-1 @ 18/1

With the idea that both teams will find the net, a correct score prediction on a 3-1 Northern Ireland win can offer plenty of value.

Guinea have won just three of their last nine games. Ranked 80th in the FIFA standings, they lost out against lower-rated opponents in Benin most recently.

Northern Ireland are 10 places higher and were well worth their draw against Wales in Cardiff in March, albeit that was a game neither side truly wanted to be involved in after losing their World Cup play-off semi-finals to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy respectively.

O'Neill's side had twice given Germany something to think about in qualifying and matched Italy for long spells in Bergamo in that semi-final loss.

They were winners against Slovakia as well as home and away against Luxembourg in qualifying. It ended 3-1 to O'Neill's side in the Stade de Luxembourg back in September and a repeat here is generously priced.

Northern Ireland v Guinea Bet Builder Tip

  • Over 2 goals

  • Guinea over 4 corners

  • Isaac Price to score anytime

    Pays 11/1

This bet builder continues with the theme of goals, this time on over 2.5 across the 90 minutes, an outcome that has obliged in three of Guinea's last six games and both of Northern Ireland's September qualifiers against Luxembourg.

Guinea took eight corners in their loss to Benin in March and can put enough pressure on the youthful Irish backline to grab at least five here.

Isaac Price has been a real success story for Northern Ireland. The 22-year-old West Brom midfielder has scored 10 goals in 26 appearances.

He hit nine goals for the Baggies in the Championship despite a tough season for the Hawthorns club and can notch another in green here.
