League Two outfit Newport County are on the lookout for a new manager after Christian Fuchs resigned his position less than seven months after taking over at the Exiles.
Fuchs, a Premier League winner with Leicester City as a player, took over last November to replace the sacked David Hughes at Rodney Parade.
He helped stave off relegation from the Football League with two dramatic victories in their final games against Oldham Athletic and Barrow, with Fuchs suggesting after the last-gasp win on the final day that it was "incredible what the boys have achieved after being written off".
Now, less than two months later, the Austrian has left the Welsh club.
Newport have finished 11th, 15th, 18th, 22nd and 20th in League Two across the last five seasons and have one of the smallest wage bills in the fourth tier.
Former Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins must now seek to install a successor to Fuchs and we are taking a look at some of the possible contenders.
Kevin Nolan left Northampton Town in March and is being linked to the Newport job.
He exited the Cobblers with them sitting 23rd in League One, three points from safety, having scored only 31 goals in 36 matches - the second lowest total in the league - and they went on to finish bottom.
Having previously managed Leyton Orient and Notts County, Nolan had a spell as a first-team coach at West Ham prior to taking the Northampton job in December 2024.
Garry Monk was both a player and manager at Swansea City when Jenkins was chairman and managed in the Premier League.
He has plenty of Football League experience during subsequent stints at Leeds United, Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday and Cambridge United.
He spent less than a year in charge of the U's, with just nine wins in 49 games, and were bottom of the League One standings when he left before going on to be relegated.
Monk's relationship with Jenkins could be a possible factor in his favour.
Rob Page enjoyed stints in the Football League with Port Vale and Northampton before joining the Wales national team set-up and he would go on to lead the senior international side for four years from 2020.
He led them at two major tournaments, including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but he was sacked by the Welsh FA in June 2024 after failing to reach the Euros for a second time as boss.
Page joined Liverpool as under-21s manager last summer and remains on the books at Melwood.
The vastly experienced Steve Bruce was linked with the Newport job in November when Hughes was sacked and before Fuchs got the call.
Bruce has had more than 1,000 games in the dugout, including stints at Birmingham, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
He's been out of work since leaving Blackpool in October 2025, after which he said it was unlikely he'd return to club management, though he did not rule out an advisory role.
Newport-born Michael Flynn played for the club and made over 100 appearances in various stints at Rodney Parade.
After completing his UEFA Pro Licence, Flynn was initially appointed as caretaker boss at Newport in March 2017 when they were 11 points adrift at the bottom of League Two.
He masterminded a great escape and was duly appointed as full-time boss that summer.
Flynn spent four years in charge and helped famously dump Premier League Leicester out of the FA Cup, while also taking Newcastle to a penalty shootout in the League Cup.
He left in October 2021 and has since managed Walsall, Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town - he is a member of the Newport County Hall of Fame.
