The national fourth tier of English football was established in 1958 following the merger of the Third Division North and Third Division South.
It was rebranded as the Third Division in 1992 following the unveiling of the Premier League before being renamed to the Football League Two in 2004 and remoulded again as the EFL League Two in 2016.
Chesterfield are the most successful club in the fourth tier, winning four titles. The Spireites were crowned champions in 1970, 1985, 2011 and 2014.
Premier League side Brentford have three fourth division titles to their name and their most recent success in the league was in 2009. Brighton are another Premier League outfit with more than one fourth division titles, triumphing in 1965 and 2001.
