Leeds United v Brentford Prediction: Points to be shared in 10/3 battle

Leeds United and Brentford will look to extend their winning starts to the new campaign when they meet at Elland Road on Sunday.

The Whites have faced Nottingham Forest at the City Ground twice and beaten the Tricky Trees on both occasions.

Daniel Farke's team opened the new Premier League season with a 1-0 win last Saturday, before securing a more convincing 2-0 victory in the EFL Cup three days later.

Brentford hammered Tottenham 3-0 at home in their league opener, before they thrashed Birmingham City 6-1 on the road in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Both clubs have the luxury of a solid foundation after sticking with their respective managers in the summer and a close battle is expected in West Yorkshire.

Leeds United v Brentford Prediction

Best Bet: Draw and both teams to score @ 10/3

Leeds built most of their success last season on their home form, losing only five of their 19 league games at Elland Road.

Farke's decision to switch to a back three last December was a masterstroke and the Whites have never looked back.

They avoided defeat in pre-season against Sunderland, Liverpool, RB Leipzig, Manchester United and Augsburg and proved in both games against Forest they are going to be hard to break down.

Even when they were exposed, which is expected when playing from home, Leeds could depend on new goalkeeper James Trafford, who made several notable saves in both games.

Like Leeds, Brentford caught the eye last season and have made a blistering start to the new campaign. The Bees have netted nine goals in competitive games, while they fired home 11 goals in matches against Rennes and Eintracht Frankfurt in pre-season.

Both teams carry a strong set-piece threat and have enough firepower to find the back of the net, but it is tough to split the pair.

The last three meetings between the two clubs have finished level and a score draw looks the way to go.

Alternative Bet: Kevin Schade Over 1.5 shots on target @ 9/2

Brentford winger Kevin Schade only featured for 45 minutes against Birmingham, but it was his action-packed display against Tottenham that caught the eye.

He fired off five shots in that match, with two of those hitting the target. Schade was consistent in the final third last season, with 24 of his 57 shots hitting the target.

While Brentford are away from home this week, his recent performances suggest he will continue to shoot on sight.

Leeds United v Brentford Bet Builder

  • Under 3 cards

  • Under 10 corners

  • Vitaly Janelt 2+ fouls committed

    Pays 19/1

The two clubs both picked up one yellow card apiece in their opening league games and the recent meetings have been fairly friendly.

Under three cards landed in both fixtures last season, while there have been four or fewer cards brandished in the last five encounters.

With both teams set to cancel each other out, it is unlikely that we see a lot of corners and none of the last six head-to-head fixtures have contained more than 10.

Adding Vitaly Janelt to commit two or more fouls also gives this Bet Builder a tasty kick. The Bees midfielder has conceded six fouls in two games and Brentford boss Keith Andrews will deploy him as their enforcer once again.

In front of a passionate Elland Road crowd, expect Janelt to put himself about.
