Manchester United v Tottenham Combined XI

Take a look at our Manchester United v Tottenham Combined XI ahead of the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao.

Man Utd v Tottenham

GK: Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham)

Neither Man Utd's Andre Onana or Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario have had particularly impressive seasons for their underperforming respective clubs this term, with Spurs' Italian number one just edging this individual battle.

28-year-old Italy international Vicario has had an injury-interrupted campaign, missing three months of action after suffering a fractured ankle in Spurs' 4-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad in the Premier League in February 2025.

When in peak form, Vicario is an athletic shot-stopper who is capable of pulling off inspired saves, with a big performance likely to be required from the ex-Empoli man if Man Utd are to be kept at bay in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

RB: Noussair Mazraoui (Man Utd)

Tottenham's Pedro Porro and Man Utd duo Diogo Dalot and Noussar Mazraoui could all present credible cases for selection in this team at right-back, with the latter Moroccan international ultimately getting the nod.

Signed by ex-Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag from his former club Ajax last summer, Mazraoui has commendably demonstrated his versatility for the Red Devils this term - turning out as a full-back in a back four, a wing-back in a back five and a centre-back in a back five.

In all roles Mazraoui is able to do himself justice, with the 27-year-old possessing an intelligent football brain to go along with his natural athleticism.

CB: Cristian Romero (Tottenham)

At centre-back, Tottenham's Cristian Romero appears a straightforward pick in this combined XI.

A World Cup winner with his native Argentine in 2022, Romero will be desperate to win his first major honour as a Spurs player in the Europa League final.

A complete defender who is not only physically robust but also accomplished in possession, Romero turned in an inspirational performance in Spurs' 2-0 win in their Europa League semi-final second-leg victory away at Bodo/Glimt to help secure his side's passage to the Bilbao showpiece.

CB: Micky van de Ven (Tottenham)

Alongside Romero is his regular centre-back partner for Spurs - Dutchman Micky van de Ven.

A major factor in Spurs' woes this season has been the injuries suffered by their first-choice centre-back partnership, with Romero and Van de Ven both missing months of action with hamstring injuries.

When fully fit, 24-year-old Van de Ven is an exceptionally impressive defender who possesses blistering speed and a tidy left foot.

LB: Destiny Udogie (Tottenham)

Lining up at left-back is yet another injury-prone Tottenham defender in the form of Italy international Destiny Udogie.

Breaking into Tottenham's first team following a season on loan at former club Udinese in 2022/23, Udogie has impressed in the Premier League when fit and available.

A left-back who is very strong on the ball and equipped with the dynamism to get up and down the pitch, Udogie has proven comfortable when utilised in an inverted full-back position by Aussie boss Postecoglou in north London.

DM: Casemiro (Man Utd)

A player who has had a tumultuous Man Utd career, 33-year-old Casemiro demonstrated in the Europa League semi-finals against Athletic Bilbao that he is still capable of producing big performances in the Red Devils' engine room.

Scoring in both legs in the 7-1 aggregate triumph over the Basque outfit, the Brazilian was an influential presence in the middle of the park with his experience and stature driving the Red Devils on.

Given his inconsistency at Old Trafford it has become easy to forget that Casemiro is a five-time UEFA Champions League winner, and this winning pedigree could be invaluable for United as they go in search of their second Europa League honour in the Basque Country.

CM: Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)

By far and away Man Utd's best player this season, and arguably the best player who will be on display at San Mames for either side, Red Devils skipper Bruno Fernandes could have a major say on who gets their hands on the Europa League trophy.

A creative midfielder with both the ability to control the tempo of matches and prove the difference maker in the final third with goals and assists, Fernandes is more often than not the player this dysfunctional United side look to for inspiration.

The Portugal international has carried Ruben Amorim's side at times this term - registering seven goals and five assists in Europe alone - and United supporters will be craving Fernandes brings his A game in the Europa League final.

CM: James Maddison (Tottenham)

A player who will be a notable absentee in the Europa League final, James Maddison is a midfield playmaker capable of providing a comparable level of creative inspiration for Spurs as Fernandes for Man Utd when at his best.

Maddison's numbers in the Premier League this term back this up, with the ex-Leicester City man recording nine goals and eight assists for Spurs.

This attacking output will be sorely missed for Spurs in the Europa League final, with Maddison sidelined due to a knee injury sustained in his side's 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the first-leg of the semi-finals.

RW: Amad Diallo (Man Utd)

A rare beacon of light in what has been a miserable season for Man Utd, Ivorian Amad Diallo has enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Red Devils.

Utilised by United boss Amorim both as a wing-back and an attacking midfielder, Diallo has proven he is capable of producing magical moments with the ball at his feet.

Possessing terrific close control and an elusive low centre of gravity, Diallo is a player capable of getting supporters off their feet with his incisive play in the final third.

Only recently recovering from an untimely ankle injury, Diallo has registered 10 goals and nine assists for Man Utd in all competitions this season.

ST: Dominic Solanke (Tottenham)

Given the depths Spurs have sunk to domestically under Postecoglou this season, it has been easy to overlook the impact made by striker Dominic Solanke in his first campaign at the club.

Although Solanke will be disappointed by his tally of eight Premier League goals to date considering his substantial £65m price tag from Bournemouth last summer, his nine goal contributions in the Europa League have been fundamental to Spurs' success in the competition.

A striker with an all-round skillset who is adept at putting in the hard yards to press opposition defenders as well as hold the ball up for his team, Solanke can provide this Spurs side with an effective focal point up front in the Europa League final against Man Utd.

LW: Son Heung-min (Tottenham)

The fact Son Heung-min has still been able to muster 23 goal contributions in all competitions so far this term in what has been widely perceived as his worst campaign as a Tottenham player underlines how consistent the South Korean has been for the club.

A phenomenal two-footed finisher, Son has been one of Spurs' best players in the Premier League era since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, notching well over 100 goals in England's top flight.

South Korean icon Son has been struggling with a foot injury of late - missing around a month of action - but the Spurs skipper looks primed to be available for the Europa League final having come off the bench in Postecoglou's side's 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing.
