The grid for the 2027 Formula 1 season is taking shape with a number of seats still to be confirmed.
There have been a number of major contract announcements during the 2026 season, but only a handful of drivers have been secured to long-term deals, which leaves uncertainty concerning the futures of several drivers.
Here's everything you need to know about the F1 grid for 2027.
McLaren

Following a tense battle for the Drivers' Championship last season, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri remain tied down to multi-year contracts at McLaren.
Piastri is contracted until at least 2028, although there remains speculation around his long-term future, while reigning world champion Norris put pen to paper on a lucrative new deal in August that will keep him at the Woking-based constructor until 2030.
Mercedes

The lead team in the Constructors' Championship, George Russell is tied down with Mercedes for next season and although Kimi Antonelli is not currently contracted beyond the current campaign, it's inevitable the prodigious Italian will be signing a new bumper deal before the year is out.
Russell signed fresh terms ahead of the 2026 season and although the length of his contract was undisclosed, Russell has since described it as a "multi-year deal".
Ferrari

It's been an improved year for Ferrari and the famous Italian constructor will be sticking with the pairing of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton for the foreseeable future.
Leclerc signed a multi-year extension ahead of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix which is believed to tie him down until the end of the 2028 season, while Hamilton's contract is believed to expire at the end of 2027.
Any murmurs of retirement have been quashed by the seven-time world champion, who says he "plans to stay in F1" for some time.
Red Bull

The biggest contractual story in 2026 was Max Verstappen's commitment to a new four-year deal with Red Bull, which he signed ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.
The announcement abruptly ended any speculation about Verstappen's long-term future in the sport amid the Dutchman's complaints about the current generation of F1 cars.
His partner for 2027 is yet to be confirmed, although it appears increasingly likely Isack Hadjar will be retained following a solid first season with Red Bull.
Aston Martin

There have been no official announcements for either Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll for next season.
Speculation concerning Alonso's future has heightened following a dismal start to the new era for Aston Martin, and despite the two-time world champion insisting a decision on next season will be made during the summer break, there's been radio silence on whether he will decide to call it a day at the end of the campaign.
Stroll has also been coy on his future, with his current deal expiring at the end of this year.
Racing Bulls

Racing Bulls have been one of the success stories of 2026 with both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad performing strongly in the Drivers' Championship.
The Red Bull sister team traditionally offer short-term deals to help them manage underperformance and provide their drivers with the opportunity to make the transition into Red Bull, and both Lawson and Lindblad are only contracted until the end of the season.
However, it would be a major surprise if the pair were not on the grid together with Racing Bulls next term.
Alpine

Pierre Gasly has been the best driver outside of the top four teams this season and Alpine have enjoyed a resurgence following an extremely difficult 2025.
The Frenchman signed a multi-year agreement with Alpine in 2025 which keeps him in a seat until the end of 2028.
Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Doohan in 2025 and retained his seat for the 2026 season, and the Argentine has impressed enough this year to be handed another one-year extension.
Haas

While the duration of Ollie Bearman's contract is unknown and his status for next season is unconfirmed, it's extremely likely the Briton will remain with Haas next season - unless a seat at Ferrari miraculously becomes available.
Who his partner will be in 2027 remains more of a mystery, however, with rumours of Esteban Ocon being replaced by one of Yuki Tsunoda or Rafael Camara.
Williams

Carlos Sainz joined from Ferrari on a two-year agreement with the option to extend for a further year, and that deal will take him into next season.
Alexander Albon also put pen to paper on a fresh one-year deal during the 2026 summer break, keeping him contracted until the end of the 2027 season.
Audi

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto completed a new-look driver line-up as Audi finally ventured into F1 this year.
Both Hulkenberg and Bortoleto agreed to multi-year contracts upon joining the constructor in 2025, but the durations of their contracts were left undisclosed and their seats for next year are yet to be confirmed - although it's highly likely the duo will be retained.
Cadillac

New Formula 1 entrant Cadillac announced Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas had signed multi-year contracts ahead of the 2026 season and both are expected to remain with the American constructor.
There was speculation concerning Bottas' seat at the start of a year following a difficult return, but those rumours have since dissipated.
