We take a look at the previous winners of the Formula 1 Drivers' and Constructors' titles.
Lewis Hamilton is the most decorated driver in Formula 1 history and both he and Michael Schumacher have achieved a record seven titles.
Schumacher won his first in 1994 with Benetton and went back-to-back in 1995. He would wait another five years before embarking on a period of remarkable dominance with Ferrari, winning five consecutive drivers' championships.
Hamilton's title haul shares similarities to Schumacher in that the Brit won his first with McLaren in 2008 and it was another six years before he won his second, which marked the start of Mercedes' supremacy.
Hamilton and Schumacher are two of four drivers to win four consecutive titles, including Juan Manuel Fangio and Max Verstappen.
In total, there have been 34 different F1 world title winners.
Ferrari hold the record for most constructors' championships with an astonishing 16 titles, although their last success was all the way back in 2008. Six of their 16 titles were amassed in a victory-laden stretch between 1999 and 2004.
Mercedes won eight championships in a row between 2014 and 2021, though the Silver Arrows still trail Williams and McLaren in the all-time standings who both have nine titles apiece.
Lotus rank fifth with seven titles, the last of which was in 1978, while Red Bull are sixth in the list with six constructors' championships.
A total of 15 constructors have won a world championship.
