Everton are reportedly considering a move for Brondby defender Luis Binks in January.
The Toffees endured a torrid summer in the transfer market that saw multiple key players depart, leaving David Moyes with a threadbare squad to start the campaign.
Despite the limited options at his disposal Moyes led them to an impressive start, with the club going unbeaten in their first six Premier League games.
Back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal have offered a timely reminder of the need for additional depth however, and it appears that the club are already identifying targets ahead of the January window.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, one of these targets is Brondby captain Binks, with the Scotland international viewed as a potential long-term successor to James Tarkowski in the heart of defence.
While he currently plies his trade in the Danish Superliga, Binks should be no stranger to English football fans.
The 25-year-old was born in Gillingham and went on to spend more than a decade in Tottenham's academy before signing his first professional contract with MLS side Montreal Impact in 2020.
From there he would go on to Bologna in Serie A but found his playing time limited and went on loan to Como and Coventry City.
He later joined the Sky Blues permanently but ultimately departed the following year to join Brondbury, signing a five-year deal in the Danish capital.
While Everton are reportedly weighing up a move for Binks - who made his Scotland debut in their Nations League qualifiers last month - the 25-year-old is also attracting attention from across Europe.
Udinese are said to be one of several Serie A clubs keeping tabs on the centre-back with a view to make a move when the transfer window reopens.
